Joomla 4 is article is about what is new on Joomla 4, and everything you need to know about Joomla 4.
Joomla 4 Project RoadMap
Like all CMS applications, Joomla also has big plans for the future. When mentioning about the roadmap, we would like to let you know what we are trying to accomplish here.
Time Frames of Releases
When the development strategy was published on the 25th of April 2014, one of the critical features Joomla kept into consideration is maintaining long-term stability and backward compatibility while also beginning to follow a semantic versioning approach to releases. By semantic versioning, we mean Software upgrade versioning. It is the process of assigning either unique version names or unique version numbers to different states of software, which here, in this case, is Joomla.
The releases which we are going to mention here are considered minor releases, and none of them tend to break backward compatibility. Any release that is meant to break backward compatibility will be moved to the next major release which is currently, Joomla 4.x
- CMS Release Team
- CMS Maintenance Team
The CMS Release Team is responsible for the quality assurance of the CMS. Apart from quality assurance, they are also responsible for planning, coordinating, and distributing all the minor/major releases.
The CMS Maintenance Team is responsible for reviewing all the proposed patches for CMS. They provide feedback on the proposed patch and decide if the patch needs to be integrated into the code base or not.
Joomla 3.x is currently the major release series of the Content Management System.

The Alpha, Beta, RC, and Stable versions of Joomla 4.0 are yet to be determined.
Note: The agenda for future releases is subject to change depending on the availability of volunteers and circumstances beyond Joomla’s control.
